Travels with the Nikkels

Sue and I have enjoyed many great vacations over the years. In the 90s our family went for a holiday every summer. From July of 2001 to August of 2003, Sue and I took a couple of years off to travel the world. We had so much fun that in 2008 we did it again. After I retired from teaching in the summer of 2010, we were free to travel as much and as often as we liked. And we liked it a lot!

Then, in the summer of 2017, Sue experienced a sudden loss of energy. She continued to feel worse and after several doctor appointments, in late October, tests showed that there were spots on her liver. Over the next several weeks she waited and underwent more tests. On November 15 we were told that Sue had cancer and that she would not have many months to live. She died less than a month later, on her 66th birthday. After 40 years of marriage I lost my best friend and travelling partner.

I still love to get away and see the world and intend to keep on travelling as long as I’m able. The links below will take you to some of my collections of travel photos.
